Return to Nepal

Return to Nepal

10-Aug-2015

A couple of nights ago I arrived back in Nepal, lying on my bed in the dark I was listening to the rain falling softly outside when the sound of someone playing the piano came drifting through my open window. I found myself thinking about The Big 14 Challenge: climbing all of 14 highest mountains in the world over 8,000 meters, the challenge of life itself and how no one person can achieve success alone.

With much gratitude, I would like to give a Big Thank You to the following companies for their support:

  • Mountain Hardwear
  • McSweeney's
  • Merge Creative
  • Jenni Bink Bookbinding
  • Outdoor Essentials
  • World Health Club
  • Spot

To all the people who took the time to reach out to me on Facebook and emails, this year was filled with highs and lows at times filled with tribulation. Sometimes, the road to adventure can be lonely. Your comments of support meant a lot to me. At times without knowing it you have lifted my spirit.

To all the news media that took an interest in the Big 14 Challenge, thank you for your support. Explore magazine: thank you for the coverage. Ryan Stuart: thank you for your honesty in your writing - great job!!

To my Annapurna and Broad Peak team mates, what a pleasure it was to be in your company and to share the mountain with you.  "Getting To The Summit Is Not Everything. But Making The Effort To Get There Is." Great Effort By Everyone.

To the people that I met both hiking to base camp, on the bus or on the mountain from different teams: friendships are forged in this way... I enjoyed meeting you.

To Chris, Lakpa, and Margaret from Himalayan Ascent and Hilde from Ascent Himalaya: thank you for your friendship and at times for your sage advice. You guys are so cool!!!

To Seven Summits Trekking, all the climbing Sherpas, Porters, Support Staff both in Nepal and Pakistan: thank you for everything.
