Return to K2

Return to K2

27-Feb-2013

The drum beat of the Mountains are calling me once again and the rhythm is picking up as if it were the sweet sound of thunder.

Once again I set my sights back to the Himalayas, this time I will be traveling back to Pakistan to attempt to climb K2 the second highest mountain in the world. It's summit is one of the most prestigious prizes in high altitude mountaineering. A far more difficult peak than Everest, K2 has some of the harshest climbing conditions and weather of any place in the world.

As, one of Canada’s premier high altitude climbers I been there once but didn’t make to its summit. This year with abominable sprit, intestinal fortitude and safety as my core value I am going back with the knowledge that I learnt the first time and reengaging myself with the mountain. This time with you I, am going to the top. The route that the team and I will be attempting is called the Abruzzi Spur. The route is named for Italian climber Prince Luigi Amendeo, the Duke of Abruzzi, who led an expedition to K2 in 1909 and made the first attempt on the ridge.

The Abruzzi Spur is one of the most difficult and dangerous routes in the world. Some of the major topographic features on the route are The House Chimney, The Black Pyramid, The Shoulder and The Bottleneck

I would like to say thank you for those who have followed along on my past expeditions, 2013 is shaping up to be an exciting year. In the next several weeks to months there will be more details to follow that I will be excited to share with each and every one of you.

This year its going to be exciting!!!
